A woman discovered the “correct method” for making Campbell’s Condensed Chicken Noodle Soup. It appears she had been preparing it incorrectly all along. The secret had been printed on the can all along.

In a viral clip that has garnered more than 39,000 views, TikTok user Caylie (@cayyday) showcases a can of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup. “I just found out today that you need to mix this,” she remarks while shaking the can for dramatic effect. “You’re supposed to add a can of water. This isn't meant to be eaten straight from the can!”

Next, she focuses in on the instructions printed on the back of the can. They state: "Combine soup with 1 can of water."

The content creator pours the contents of the can into a bowl and adds some water, which helps to thin the soup. "Alright, now that feels more right," she chuckles.

As Caylie samples the soup, she finds it lacking. “It all tastes the same to me. It’s just not quite as thick,” she says, shaking her head in disappointment.

Feeling a bit shy, Caylie includes in her caption, “I can’t be the only one who has felt this way my WHOLE LIFE, right?”

The Daily Dot contacted Caylie through a direct message on Instagram and a comment on TikTok, in addition to reaching out to Campbell's using their contact form.

Audience members share their opinions.

Viewers reassured Caylie that she is not alone in her experiences.

"Girl... I had no idea about that either!" commented one viewer.

"Can you believe it? 28 years and I had no idea," remarked another person.

Nonetheless, those who were aware mentioned that they still don't adhere to the instructions precisely.

"One user remarked, 'The instructions aren't quite right. Using a full can of water is excessive. For optimal results, I suggest using only half a can.'"

"Actually, it's much better without the water," another person commented.

"Just a quarter of a can! If you use more than that, it becomes too watered down and loses its taste," suggested a third person.

Condensed soup versus regular soup.

The difference between condensed soup and regular soup comes down to the thickness of the stock, and Sporked notes that it’s totally normal to eat condensed soup without watering it down. Non-watered-down condensed soup will just give you a thicker and saltier-tasting soup.
