Supermarket chain Aldi has recalled nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen taquitos after receiving several complaints that there were pieces of metal were found by unsuspecting consumers.
A notice from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) revealed that a consumer suffered a "dental injury" after taking a bite of the taquito.
The notice states that the recall specifically concerns 20-ounce packages of Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos produced by Bestway Sandwiches, Inc., produced on July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024, according to CW affiliate WGN-TV.
While the release did not state when did not say when the affected items were removed from sale at Aldi, inspectors noted on Saturday they were “concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers." The statement read: “The problem was discovered after the firm notified FSIS that it received a consumer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product,” the FSIS wrote. “Another consumer reported to FSIS to have a dental injury from the product.”

P-40327), which are clearly displayed on the packaging," they mentioned. The report indicated that, although there is a widespread recall, only a limited number of specific stores were required to remove the Bestway Sandwiches from their shelves.
An Aldi spokesperson confirmed that the stores are situated in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

"Our expansion is fueled by our customers' demands for additional Aldi locations in their local areas across the country," he stated. "By pledging to open 800 new stores over the next five years, we will be conveniently located for our shoppers and will also contribute positively to the communities we support."
