In the last 24 hours, Bangladesh has seen the hospitalization of 19 new patients suffering from dengue fever, although there have been no reported deaths related to this Aedes mosquito-transmitted illness.

This year, the total count of patients admitted to the hospital due to the disease has increased to 528.

The current tally of fatalities resulting from the illness has reached three.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that up to Friday, 11 new patients had been admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka metropolitan area.

Furthermore, three individuals were admitted to the hospital in both the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, while one person was hospitalized in each of the Mymensingh and Khulna divisions.

Currently, there are 334 patients receiving treatment for dengue in hospitals nationwide. Among these, 180 are admitted in the capital city, while 154 are being treated in areas outside of Dhaka.

In 2024, there were 101,214 hospital admissions across the country attributed to dengue, resulting in 575 reported deaths.

This represents the third-largest count of dengue-related hospitalizations in the nation's history, with the death toll being the second-highest recorded.

Since the year 2000, the DGHS has been maintaining a record of dengue-related hospitalizations and deaths.

As of 2023, there have been an unprecedented 321,179 hospitalizations due to dengue fever, marking a record high. This year also recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling 1,705.
